India's government set the 2026-27 rabi wheat procurement target at 30.3 million tonnes after a meeting of state food secretaries. Officials also cited projected FCI stocks of about 18.2 million tonnes and an earlier clearance of 2.5 million tonnes of wheat exports.
Large government procurement and comfortable state stocks reduce the chance of domestic shortage, leaving little direct price support for wheat.
