DGFT issued Public Notice 05/2026-27 setting out the application procedure for export authorizations covering India's 25 lakh tonne wheat export quota. Applications are open from May 1 to May 10, 2026 through the DGFT online portal, and authorizations are valid for six months and non-transferable.
India's quota formally opens a new source of wheat supply to world markets, which adds competition for Black Sea and other exporters and could cap export price gains. The effect is modest given the size relative to global trade.
