The yuan strengthened against the dollar as exporters converted dollar holdings before the National Day holiday. The dollar was near a two-month high, and an analyst expected the yuan to trade between 6.5 and 6.9 for the rest of the year.
Currency moves like this shift the cost of dollar-priced imports for Chinese feed buyers, but they have little direct effect on grain or meal prices.
