The August Class III milk price rose for the first time this summer, climbing $1.12 to $16.64 per cwt, while Class II fell more than $3 and Class IV fell nearly $1. The Class I base price dropped $2.57 to $18.76 per cwt.
The figures come from the USDA class and component price announcement released September 2.
The mixed class moves show uneven demand across dairy products, with cheese-linked Class III recovering while fluid and powder-linked prices weakened, which affects producer milk checks and feed budgets.
