China's commerce ministry said it will buy U.S. soybeans once Washington lifts what it calls unreasonable tariffs. China has not booked any U.S. soybeans since the reciprocal tariffs were imposed, the first such gap since the 1990s, and trade talks were set to continue at the U.S. Treasury.
A tariff rollback would restore China's largest source of demand for U.S. soybeans, which would lift U.S. prices and export sales. Failure to reach a deal would keep Chinese buying directed to South America.
