It also notes that 44% of national pasture was in poor or very poor condition and that drought is not improving.
Higher corn prices raise the cost of feeding cattle, which weighs on feeder cattle demand. Drought-reduced pasture could also push more cattle into feedlots, adding to fed cattle supply pressure.
