USDA's November Cattle on Feed report showed feedlot inventories up 1.7% year over year, after October placements rose 3.8%. Placements were boosted by drought-driven early marketing, sharply higher feeder imports from Mexico (up 49% in October), and strong feeder prices.
Larger placements add near-term feeder supply to feedlots, which pressures feeder cattle prices, though the increase was smaller than expected and feeder prices remain well above last year.
