India's CBIC has notified an export duty exemption for specified rice varieties, covering husked, milled and organic non-basmati rice but excluding parboiled and basmati. The notification takes effect under prescribed conditions.
Removing export duties on non-parboiled rice makes Indian supplies more competitive in world markets, adding export supply and pressuring global rice prices lower.
