USDA's Economic Research Service projects global rice trade to rise 1% to 42.3 million tonnes in 2018, the third-highest on record. Vietnam's exports are forecast to rise 400,000 tonnes to 6.0 million, Pakistan's and Burma's are also up, while India's are expected to fall 500,000 tonnes and US exports to drop 50,000 tonnes.
Larger exports from Vietnam, Pakistan and Burma add global supply, while lower Indian and US shipments tighten those origins, a mixed outlook for rice prices.
