The European Commission's MARS monitoring service rates European winter crops as still fair, though it warns a late-February cold spell covered nearly all of Europe outside the north and west of France, Great Britain, Spain and Italy. MARS expects impairment of winter crops and delayed summer cereal sowing.
Winter crop damage and delayed spring planting in Europe would tighten EU feed grain supply and support barley and corn prices. The assessment is still provisional, so the impact is uncertain.
