Purdue experts analyzed the USDA August Crop Production Report, released August 10. They concluded that several consecutive years of high production have caused oversupply, low prices and tight crop margins.
The panel also noted that planting was delayed by a cold spring before a rapid May catch-up.
Record yields and oversupply keep corn and soybean prices under pressure. Tight margins may limit farmers' ability to hold stocks and affect feed input costs.
