The yuan hit a six-year low against the dollar on weak Chinese trade data while the broader dollar rally stalled. The offshore yuan was pushed lower after China had earlier halted a run on its currency by selling dollar reserves and raising offshore yuan interest rates.
The move highlighted continued pressure on the currency.
