The Grain Industry Association of Victoria estimates Victorian barley yields at 3.32 t/ha and wheat at 2.31 t/ha from its October crop tour. These estimates sit above ABARES' September forecasts, although GIAV warned that frost and heat in southern areas could reduce them.
Yield estimates above official forecasts are mildly bearish for Australian wheat and barley, partly offsetting the drought-driven shortfall elsewhere in the country.
