Following USDA's September report, November soybeans rose sharply to a new yearly high as funds added to their net long position. Harvested corn acreage was cut 550,000 acres to 83 million after the Iowa derecho, while soybean yield came in about as expected at a record-large level.
Lower harvested corn acreage and record soybean yields leave a mixed balance, but the fund buying lifted prices and raised feed grain and soymeal costs in the near term.
