Arkansas corn planted acreage fell to 620,000 acres against an intended 800,000, as wet late-winter and spring conditions and tropical storms Laura and Beta delayed planting and harvest. Grain sorghum acreage was also low at about 10,000 acres.
Corn prices rose late in 2020, but mainly after many growers had already sold.
Weather-driven acreage losses in one state add little to national supply, but they reflect the wider low-price, low-acreage pattern for feed grains. Early-2021 prices remain firmer than harvest levels.
