USDA announced a $750 million sterile fly breeding facility in Edinburg, Texas, to produce sterile flies against New World screwworm. The factory is planned for Moore Air Force Base, about 20 miles from the border.
The department also plans $100 million for traps, therapeutics and border surveillance, and says the border will stay closed to cattle.
