Bangladesh's cabinet committee approved purchases of 5 million litres of soybean oil and 27,000 tonnes of lentils, worth Tk 344 crore in total. The goods will be sold at subsidised prices through open market sale trucks to low-income consumers in Dhaka.
The purchase is small relative to global markets but adds modest local demand for soybean oil and lentils.
