India's trade minister Piyush Goyal said the country will keep its export curbs on wheat, rice and sugar for now. He also said India has no plans to import wheat.
India banned wheat exports in 2022 after heat-damaged output, and the curbs were extended as global prices rose.
Continued Indian export restrictions keep a large share of global rice and wheat supply off the market, which supports world rice prices. The no-import stance means no offsetting supply is expected from India.
