EU meal imports from July 2023 to February 2024 fell 9% to 12.14 million tons, driven by a 13% drop in soybean meal imports. Rapeseed meal imports rose 22% and sunflower meal imports rose 6%.
Main suppliers were Brazil, Argentina and the US for soybean meal, and Russia, Belarus and Ukraine for the other meals.
Lower EU soybean meal imports ease demand for South American supply, while higher rapeseed and sunflower meal imports tighten those alternative meal markets.
