Rumblings of unease about the euro's roughly 15% rise against the dollar this year emerged within the ECB at midyear. The euro had retreated about 1.5% from a near four-year high above $1.18 in July.
A cooler euro reduces pressure on the ECB to tighten policy, which keeps euro-zone financing conditions supportive. A weaker euro also makes US-priced feed imports slightly more expensive for European buyers.
