USDA's September 12 WASDE raised its 2025 milk production forecast by 800 million pounds to 230 billion pounds, on larger cow numbers and higher output per cow. It cut the 2025 Class III price to $18.20 per cwt, Class IV to $18.15, and the all-milk price by 65 cents to $21.35.
Forecasts for 2026 prices were also reduced.
Higher supply combined with lower dairy product prices points to weaker milk values and tighter dairy producer margins. Lower milk prices reduce the cost of dairy by-products used in feed rations.
