The dollar index fell 0.44% on Tuesday after weaker-than-expected September retail sales, core PPI and weekly ADP data. The Conference Board's November consumer confidence index also fell to a seven-month low, and markets priced an 80% chance of a December Fed cut.
Softer US data and lower Treasury yields narrow rate differentials and weaken the dollar, which supports dollar-priced commodities. Stronger demand from a rate cut would also help commodity prices.
