Senator Joni Ernst joined colleagues in urging EPA Administrator Michael Regan to raise Renewable Fuel Standard volumes for biomass-based diesel and advanced biofuels. The letter says RIN values fell an average of 66 percent since the volumes were set last summer, and that some fuel plants are closing.
Higher RFS volumes would increase demand for soybean oil and other biofuel feedstocks, while the current low RIN values are weighing on feedstock demand and investment.
