The DOE/EIA weekly retail diesel price rose again, extending a run of increases to nine straight weeks and reaching its highest level since October 2008. The CME ultra low sulfur diesel settlement fell 6.9 cents from the prior week to $2.3981 a gallon.
Retail prices are catching up to earlier spot increases.
Higher diesel raises trucking and farm input costs, which can widen feed transport costs and pressure feed mill margins, while retail lag suggests spot weakness may not yet reach pump prices.
