The euro gave back its gains after the Federal Reserve kept rates unchanged and projected only one rate cut this year, down from three. EUR/USD slid from about 1.0850 back toward 1.08, and sterling fell after the Fed decision.
The dollar rallied and USD/JPY stayed near 157.
Fewer expected Fed cuts supported the dollar and lifted U.S. yields, which pressures dollar-priced feed commodities and raises financing costs for importers. The reversal shows that the rate-cut outlook is the main driver of currency-linked price moves.
