Four tankers reported destroyed near Hormuz. Iran's Revolutionary Guard says four oil tankers hit naval mines on a route south of the Strait of Hormuz. It says the tankers are still ablaze.
Two more vessels were seized. The Guard also said it seized two other vessels. These are claims from Iran's Revolutionary Guard, reported as such.
Why feed buyers should care. Fewer tankers and new mine risk tighten crude and refined product supply. That can push up energy costs for feed mills and transport.
The market barely flinched. WTI was still down 1.3% on the day, so the price reaction was limited. The read on Brent and WTI is bullish.
Watch freight and fuel costs. If Hormuz risk keeps growing, energy and transport costs are the first place feed buyers would feel it.
