The American Soybean Association backed a National Biodiesel Board anti-dumping and countervailing duty petition filed on March 26. The petition alleges that biodiesel imports from Argentina and Indonesia are sold below production cost and subsidized.
If duties are imposed, imports from Argentina and Indonesia would become more expensive, supporting domestic demand for soybean oil as biodiesel feedstock. The outcome depends on Commerce and ITC investigations that are still pending.
