Greens/EFA welcomed the European Parliament's adoption of an own-initiative report on palm oil and rainforest deforestation, the first time MEPs have called for stricter palm oil import rules. The group urged the Commission to set mandatory minimum standards and phase out palm oil in biofuels by 2020.
