Southeast Asia's haze season is starting as the dry season ends, and NGOs are using it to campaign against palm oil. Global Forest Watch fire counts for September 4-11 show Brazil and Australia with far more fire alerts than Indonesia or Malaysia, and only a small share of Indonesian fires were in palm concessions.
Haze-related campaigns and the EU's proposed deforestation criteria could weigh on palm oil import sentiment, though the fire data itself does not point to an immediate supply shock.
