At the 14th Poultry Research Days in Tours, METEX NØØVISTAGO presented two research posters on reducing crude protein in broiler diets. The work examines the sustainability benefits, with a focus on carbon footprint.
The company notes that 70 to 80% of the broiler industry's carbon footprint comes from feed production.
Lower crude protein diets with added amino acids reduce soybean meal inclusion, which could modestly soften demand for soybean meal if adopted widely. Current adoption is early and the effect is small.
