Europe continues to take large volumes of LNG, and the global fleet of LNG carriers is tight. Charter rates are expected to rise sharply heading into winter as shipyards work to meet demand for new tankers.
A shortage of LNG tankers limits how much gas can reach importers, which supports gas prices and energy costs for feed and fertilizer producers. The effect runs through energy markets rather than grain freight directly.
