India's Directorate General of Foreign Trade notified on May 24, 2023 that broken rice exports remain prohibited, except where the government grants permission to other countries for food security needs. The amendment formalizes the policy conditions under HS code 1006 40 00.
The notification confirms that broken rice, a feed ingredient, stays largely off the export market, keeping global supply tight and supporting prices.
