An RSIS commentary argues that criticism of India's July 2023 non-basmati rice export ban should be balanced against its need to keep food affordable at home. It notes that August curbs on parboiled rice cover another 42% of India's milled rice exports, and that rice prices are rising toward 2007-2008 crisis levels.
