India's Ministry of Consumer Affairs has asked the DGFT to act on flour millers' request to open exports of wheat products with a quantitative restriction of 1 million tonnes. The request cites surplus wheat and wheat product production and ample domestic availability.
A quota-limited reopening of Indian wheat product exports would add some export demand for wheat and flour, supporting wheat prices modestly. The quantity cap keeps the effect contained.
