UK fertiliser prices held roughly flat over the new year but are now rising as supply chain bottlenecks feed through. AHDB data put granular urea at £424/t in December, more than £50/t above a year earlier, and some February quotes were around £385/t with March increases expected.
Uncertainty over the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, along with US tensions with major urea exporters, is also cited as lifting prices.
Logistics delays and geopolitical risk tighten urea availability for UK and European buyers and support higher nitrogen prices into spring. Feed and grain producers face higher crop input costs.
