The U.S. dollar rose against the Vietnamese dong on April 29, while the State Bank of Vietnam's reference rate was set at VND25,113. Globally the dollar firmed ahead of a Federal Reserve decision, with the Iran war unresolved and safe-haven demand supporting the greenback.
A firmer dollar on safe-haven demand raises the local-currency cost of dollar-priced feed imports into Vietnam, a modest upward pressure on feed costs. The effect on global grain and meal prices is limited.
