The Rice Exporters Association of Chhattisgarh said China suspended seven Indian exporters' licenses over alleged genetically modified rice, which India says it does not produce. The association warned that unresolved claims could let other importers disrupt Indian rice exports, and that storage delays are squeezing millers.
Losing Chinese import access for Indian exporters reduces demand for Indian rice and pressures export prices, even though China typically needs around 2 million tons of imports.
