Sawit Watch director Achmad Surambo said biodiesel subsidies from B20 through B35 mainly benefited large palm oil companies, with Wilmar receiving the largest share. He cited total palm oil fund levy collections of Rp 70.99 trillion for 2019-2021 against Rp 68 trillion in subsidies to corporates, and an ongoing corruption probe into the fund.
The criticism concerns how biodiesel subsidies are distributed and could prompt policy scrutiny of the biodiesel mandate. Any resulting change to the subsidy structure would matter for domestic palm oil demand, but no change has been announced.
