China's nationwide truck-capacity limits and stricter overload checks cut corn shipments from northern growing regions, and domestic corn rose about 16% since early October. Chinese buyers ordered 20 ships of U.S. sorghum, over 1 million tonnes, for arrival by February 2017, and at least three ships of Australian feed barley are also heading to China.
Tighter corn logistics in China are pulling in cheaper substitute feed grains, boosting export demand for U.S. sorghum and Australian barley. This supports sorghum and barley export prices while China's corn imports stay limited by its own domestic supply chain.
