Fern and African partners toured Europe from February 6 to 16, 2017 to discuss the EU FLEGT Action Plan on illegal logging. EU officials and Member States renewed support for the plan, which will address drivers of deforestation including palm oil, rubber and cocoa.
Expanded deforestation-linked trade rules could eventually constrain palm oil and other commodity flows, but the measures are still at an early stage with no immediate price effect.
