Growers still harvesting corn and soybeans reported lower yields and ratings in the final weeks of the season. Average November corn yield came in at 173.2 bpa, 2.2 bpa below USDA's Nov.
9 estimate, while soybeans averaged 50 bpa. Wet fields and late harvest were common complaints.
Yields coming in below the USDA estimate tighten the corn and soybean balance sheet slightly, which is mildly supportive for feed grain and meal prices. The effect is small because the national crop is still record-large.
