USDA's Prospective Planting report on March 29 showed far lower plantings than expected, sending December corn and November soybeans sharply higher. Prices then gave back part of the gains, with December corn settling at 4.11 1/2 and November beans at 10.40.
The surprise acreage shortfall lifted corn and soybean prices, and the partial reversal shows the market is sensitive to USDA acreage data.
