Heavy rain has pushed several rivers in Minnesota and Iowa to very high levels, with 8 to 14 inches reported in parts of southwestern and south-central Minnesota over two weeks. The Minnesota River is forecast to reach at least 30 feet, and the Mississippi at St. Paul is in the very high category.
Flooding has been reported on farm fields in several counties.
Field flooding can delay planting and damage crops in parts of the upper Midwest, and high river levels can also disrupt barge traffic. The overall effect on corn and soybean prices depends on how widespread the damage is.
