The US dollar rose about 60 points after the Federal Reserve cut rates by a quarter point, as expected. The Canadian dollar, ruble and euro fell against it.
Matif wheat neared support at $173 per tonne, and Strategie Grains and German farm groups revised European wheat crop estimates.
A stronger dollar makes US wheat less competitive and gives Canadian and Russian exporters a pricing edge. Lower European crop estimates provide some offsetting support for global wheat prices.
