Latin American currencies were little changed on Thursday as conflicting signals on the US-China trade talks and a diplomatic row over US legislation on Hong Kong kept investors away from riskier assets. The Brazilian real traded flat, while the Peruvian sol and Colombian peso firmed about 0.2% against a slightly weaker dollar.
The Mexican peso outperformed regional peers, helped by higher oil prices.
Trade uncertainty that could stretch into 2020 weighs on emerging-market currencies and risk appetite, which affects the cost of imported feed inputs for Latin American buyers. The moves were small, so the near-term price effect on feed ingredients is limited.
