USDA's April WASDE raised 2019-20 ending stocks for wheat, corn and soybeans, all above trade expectations. Wheat carryout rose 30 million bushels to 970 million, corn rose 200 million to 2.092 billion, and soybeans reached 480 million.
The corn ethanol-use forecast was cut 375 million bushels because of COVID-19 demand destruction.
Larger-than-expected US stocks add bearish pressure to grain prices and reduce the premium buyers would pay for near-term feed supply. The ethanol cut also removes a source of DDGS, which may push feed buyers toward meal and other protein.
