The Kansas State Agronomy eUpdate says May 2020 was cooler than normal across most of Kansas, delaying summer crop planting and stressing winter wheat with freezes. Precipitation is below normal in the west and above normal in the southeast, and the CPC summer outlook is neutral for most of the state.
Cool, uneven moisture in Kansas raises some risk to hard red winter wheat and sorghum yields in the western plains, which can support HRW and sorghum prices.
