High water and strong currents on the lower Mississippi are squeezing barge traffic and raising agricultural shipping costs, according to the Star Tribune. Tow sizes are limited and speeds reduced, and snowmelt in the Upper Midwest is expected to slow traffic further.
The USDA Grain Transportation Report says the conditions may persist.
