The USDA Cattle on Feed report showed June 1 feedlot inventory of 11.699 million head, nearly unchanged year over year, with May placements down 6.9% and marketings up 23.4%. Cash fed cattle prices were at their highest in two months as feedlot inventories declined.
Tighter feedlot inventories and placements point to lower future feed demand from cattle, though the fed cattle market is easing its capacity constraint.
