Mexico's agriculture minister and his deputy disagree on whether GMO corn used as animal feed will be exempt from the 2024 import ban set by a December 2020 decree. Reuters reports the hardline deputy's position may be gaining ground.
If feed corn is not exempt, the roughly 16 million tonnes of US yellow corn imported for livestock would be at risk, creating downside pressure on US corn export demand and prices.
